The world's largest cruise is about to set sail for the first time ever. Known as the Royal Caribbean's Wonder of the Seas, the ship measures 1,188ft (362m) long and 210ft (64m) wide.

It can accommodate 6,988 guests across 16 decks with 24 guest elevators and 2,300 crew members. Now the ship is about to make its debut in the US and Europe next year as it's travelling from Fort Lauderdale to the Caribbean.

From March 4, 2022, the cruise will make stops at two iconic cities, Barcelona and Rome.

Footage of the ship shows it being towed out of the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in France, where it was built.

Wonder is still in the process of being tested while having "successfully completed its first sea trials to ensure it's in ship shape".

Trial tests last several days and the ship was "pushed to the limit on propulsion, navigation, engine performance and much more".

Royal Caribbean will say that 40 sea acceptance tests have already been completed along with inspections.

In just four days, the cruise was able to cover 1,500 nautical miles and managed to pick up speeds of 24 knots (27mph).

Royal Caribbean said: "With returning favourites also on deck, like The Ultimate Abyss, the tallest slide at sea; Central Park, the neighbourhood filled with real plants from end to end; and the vibrant Caribbean-inspired pool deck experience, the innovative, new ship invites adventurers of all ages to reimagine, explore and make memories once again."

Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International, added: "The momentum taking off across bookings and our returning ships in the US and Europe is significant.

"With half of our fleet sailing again, we are encouraged by what we're seeing.

"These regions are in the position to welcome a brand-new, innovative ship like Wonder of the Seas."

He added: "Wonder will shine bright as the world's newest wonder in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.

"And what's in store is the ultimate vacation experience that highlights the very best of Royal Caribbean, reimagines renowned favourites and introduces new adventures every guest, no matter their age, can enjoy." The company is offering seven-night cruises from Barcelona and Rome, which will take you to destinations like Capri and Palma de Mallorca.
