During lockdown, the use of data and all the devices capable of bringing internet connection have been marked as essentials. There have been a pertition that all our nerwork providers provide free internet data during lockdown. This has been a request in many countries around the world.
South Africa has also had a request on this, more especially the universities. The Universities in South Africa had requested that students get free internet connection during the lockdown period in order to freely access the internet for their assignments and also access the online study system which is set to start on the 4th of May 2020.
The online system for university students called MOODLE is the the site that will be used for online studies during lockdown. Vodacom, MTN and Telkom have agreed to make this site free with a specific daily data limit.
