HERE ARE THE SIX BISHOPS WHO LEFT WINNERS CHAPEL AND THEIR MINISTRY
On December 11, 1999 the Living Faith Ministries Worldwide consecrated seven bishop to head seven diocese of the church in Nigeria to enhance better administration of the church and to take the ministry to the next level. Years later, a couple of them left in controversial manner, while a number of them left on the grounds that they got the divine call to start their own ministries.
It was reported in some quarters that a good number of the Bishops resigned following some of the reorganizations and transfers, triggered by the forceful takeover of the Ghana Church by one of the bishops. It is believed the restructuring did not go down well with a lot of them
Today Bishop Thomas Aremu is the only one left in the ministry among the seven bishops . He now serve as the vice president(Foreign Mission). Presently ,Bishop Thomas Aremu together with Bishop David Oyedepo and Bishop David Abioye are the only bishops in the Ministry .
Here are the 6 Bishops that left and their new ministerial calling:
1.Dayo Olutayo
He is an in-law to Bishop David Oyedepo, by the virtue of being brother to Faith Oyedepo. Olutayo Dayo Olutayo served the church in various capacity among which was as the Resident Pastor of the Maiduguri and Nairobi Kenya Branch of Winners Chapel, before he was transferred to Abuja Branch of the ministry and subsequently consecrated as a Bishop.
In 2004,the decision of the church to transfer him to Porthacourt did not go down well with him . He later rejected the posting, denounce the bishopric office and consequently broke away and set up his own church not too far from the Durumi, Abuja Location of the church.The upheaval generated by his resignation almost tore the former church apart . In some quarters, It was reported that he had earlier informed Bishop Oyedepo that he desire to be released to start his own ministry but he was asked to hold on, the transfer now served as good opportunity for him to accomplish his intention.
Today Dayo Olutayo, is the Senior Pastor of Good Tidings Bible Church International (GTBCI) ,one of the thriving ministry in Abuja and his Ministry has displayed traits which qualifies him to be addresses as possessing an apostolic dimension of divine favor.
3.Bishop George Adjeman
Bishop Adjman a Ghanian was one of Bishop David Oyedepo trusted disciples of who served in the ministry for several years and was ordained as bishop .He was transferred to head Winners Chapel Ghana which consisted of 14 churches spread across Ghana. Bishop Adjeman later re-registered the church in his own name.
In 2004 Bishop Adjeman staged a takeover of the Ghanian branch of Winners Chapel after the Headquarters in Canaanland Ota, Nigeria attempted to transfer him to winners chapel Ibadan
The Ghanian branch of Winners Chapel Ghana was started in 1996 and already had 14 branches, while Adjeman was transferred to Ghana in 2002. when Govt authorities in Ghana called for Churches to be registered as companies, Bishop Adjeman outfoxed winners chapel went ahead to re-register the church with a new name , Winners Chapel Ghana,excluded the names of all the Nigerian trustees and took over the assets his employers.
All efforts by the Pentecostal Pentecostal Council were being made to resolve the crisis of ownership, two groups eventually emerged and the church was spilled down in the middle. The Oyedepo faction(now referred to as Winners Chapel Intl, Ghana) and the Adjeman's faction referred to as Winners Chapel Ghana. The Oyedepo faction(WCI) that started again in 2004 crisis now has a network of over 200 churches in Ghana . However winners chapel Ghana led by Adjeman has plunged from 14,000 to 1,000 members.
Bishop Joseph Okoruwa Ebhohimen
The 62 years old Bishop is form Esan Central Local Government of Edo State. In October 1977, he was admitted to University of Ilorin to read Physics. He graduated with B.Sc (Hons) in Physics, August 1982. At Ilorin he served as Prayer Secretary, Vice President and President of the University Fellowship,where he met Bishop Olaniyi Oyedepo and was a member of the fellowship that sprinboarded to Winners Chapel.
After NYSC, He picked up an appointment with a Federal Establishment, National Education Technology Centre (NETC) Kaduna September 1983. Even though he has been a pioneer member of the Power House of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, it was while he was working in Kaduna, that the church came for a programme in Kaduna November 21-28th, 1983. He was among the first few members that started that Ungwa-rimi Church of Leaving Faith Church 11th December, 1983.He became a full time minister of Living Faith, November 1988 and served meritously and rose to the post of the Chairman, National church Committee in 1998/1999 and 2006. He was a member of the Executive Council of the Ministry .He was the Regional Overseer of the Benin region of the Church before he left in 2008.
Today he is the Presiding bishop of Pace Setters Christian Assembly, with headquarters in Port Harcourt
Bishop Bolu Martins
The Kogi State Born bishop served God meritoriously for 2 decades under the Living Faith Church before he was called out by God to pioneer the new work. He was inaugurated to the office of Bishop, North central region of the church in Ilorin on 21st Feb 2007 . Among the branches he served was Ibadan and Kano .He resigned in 2007 and presently the Presiding Bishop of Treasured Life Family Church ,with Headquarters in Nomansland in Kano and branches in Abuja,and Ibadan
Bishop Mike Afolabi
The 64 years old bishop joined the ministry in 1984and four years later became a full time minister in the minister handling church projects. In 1990 he was posted to Bauchi Branch of the Minsitry .
Afterwards he worked in Ilorin, Ibadan,Warri,Democratic Republic of Congo and Ikorodu branches of the church. He resigned on 15th November 2013 after 25 years of service with the ministry
Today he is the Presiding bishop of Hand of Grace Christian centre,Ibadan The focus of the church is inspiring people with the love of God and making people to focus on God.
Bishop Dickson Olorunda
In 1981 when the then Brother David” got the liberation mandate to start the ministry, his partner, Faith Abiola Akano, along with Brother David Abioye, Emmanuel Oset, Joseph Ebrohimen and Dickson Olorunda were the people he shared the vision with .By the virtue of this, Dickson Olorunda was one of the Power house which was assembled to engage in praying and fasting to actualize the heavenly vision. He was part of the first eight members of the ministry that started the church in Kaduna. He served the church in various capacities until he left to start his own ministry. Today ,he is the Presiding Bishop of Royal destiny Church ,Benin City which he started on May 2007
