Pandemonium broke out in Niger Stone area of Ariaria, Aba, after a young man identified as Basil Nwafor was allegedly stabbed to death by thieves after a robbery incident in the area yesterday.
Basil Nwafor is a native of Ukwulu town, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra and a student of Federal Polytechnic Nekede before his death.
According to sources, Basil was looking after his mother's shop when the thieves started swooped on him. They took his phone and the sales he made for the day. Unfortunately for Basil, he recognised one of the criminals who had to stab him to death.
Basil was taken to Calif Hospital in the area where he gave up the ghost before medical intervention.
Personally, I know Basil and his mum as we all live in the same area. Basil was the last of the two sons his mother bore. He was the apple of his parents' eyes. Very diligent, respectful and brilliant.
His other brother is nothing to write home about as he is a horrible pain on his parents' neck. It was only Basil that looked after his mum's shop, went to Cemetery Market to restock the shop and did the house chores.
I wasn't in town when everything happened as I travelled down to another city since today is my Passing Out Programme from NYSC.
My sister who witnessed his death recounted how his mother was rolling on the ground inconsolably. She lost her everything in life. I really wonder how that woman will cope following the demise of his sweet son.
Some of the suspects behind the death of Basil had been nabbed and are currently cooling their heels in Uratta Police Station at the Timber and Metal Market, Aba.
Basil has already been taken to Ukwulu, Anambra State where he will be buried today. I'm already scared cos there is nothing in this world. May the soul of Basil rest in perfect peace, Amen.
His friends are already sending their condolences on Facebook.
May the soul of Basil rest in Peace, Amen.
