The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has taken new decision on the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for January/February.
The tournament have now been postponed for a year. This was was announced by CAF on Tuesday.
This decision was made due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Africa and it affected all walks of life football in particular. There are still four rounds of qualifiers left including the third round that was postponed last March.
CAF released an official statement to announce the postponement of the competition on Tuesday.
“After consultation with stakeholders and taking into consideration the current global situation, the tournament has been rescheduled for January 2022," the football body said in a statement.
"The date for the final tournament and the remaining matches of the qualifiers will be communicated in due course.”
