Franklin Parish students to start Aug. 24, virtual school enrollment closes Monday

Students in Franklin Parish will start classes on Aug. 24.
Teachers will begin Aug. 10 and use time for training and to prepare campuses before classes start.
Each school is developing custom plans that will be made available in the future.
Virtual school applications are available on the website for the district and each school through Aug. 3.
Around the state, districts developed multiple plans, one for each tier of reopening.
Phase 1 would be 100% online. Students would have online classes or get information packets. Buses can only be at 25% capacity, and groups must be smaller than 10, including adults.

The state is in Phase 2.
In Phase 2, buses can only be at 50% capacity, and groups must be smaller than 25, including adults.
Franklin Parish has discussed using a hybrid model with half of students there two days a week with other students on campus another two days a week. One day will have no students on campus to allow for planning.
In Phase 3, buses can only be at 75% capacity, and groups must be smaller than 50, including adults.
Across Louisiana, schools are requiring masks for adults and students in grades 3-12, daily temperature scans and increased hand washing. Many students will have meals in classrooms to limit congregation in cafeterias.
