In Foxcatcher, Channing Tatum got too intense during a particular scene. So much so, he had the director of the move worried. Bennet Miller recalls how during the scene, when Tatum is hitting a mirror with his head, "He punched that thing with his head three times and shattered it, and put his head through it and through the frame behind the mirror and through the drywall that the mirror was hanging on and left a divot two inches deep."

For the movie Castaway, Tom Hanks had a dramatic physical change when he lost a significant amount of weight for the role. But America’s beloved actor suffered more than hunger for this movie. The actor suffered an injury during shooting when he severely cut his leg during a scene.

Jennifer Lawrence falling is not news but in this case, it wasn't her fault. On the set of The Hunger Games, Lawrence was hit with smog due to a malfunctioning smoke machine. The actress almost lost consciousness and suffered a bout of nausea and dizziness.

The Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz was plain old mean. The actress herself, Margaret Hamilton, wasn't so but she still suffered from the witch's karma. During her exit scene, Hamilton was set to leave through a trap door, hidden by smoke and fire but the actress was hit by one of the flamethrowers and her face and hands were severely burnt.

During filming of a scene for The Expendables, Jason Statham lost control of the truck he was driving. The vehicle with Statham inside of it ended up in the water. Thankfully, as a former competitive swimmer, the actor was able to surface without a scratch on his pretty little bod.

Jaimie Alexander is tough. This woman has proved her fighting skills in Blindspot and in Thor: The Dark World. It's a good thing this actress is tough because during the filming of Thor she suffered multiple injuries. Alexander recalls: "I herniated a disk in my thoracic spine, dislocated my left shoulder, tore my right rhomboid, and chipped 11 vertebrae." Ouch.

8. Isla Fisher.

 

In Now You See Me, Isla Fisher almost drowned when she got herself stuck at the bottom of a filled with water. The crew didn't even realize that she was stuck for real, they thought she was doing a really good job acting like she was struggling. Thankfully, the actress got out just in time.

9. Nicole Kidman.

 

Getting hurt jumping off walls is plausible but doing so when wearing an outfit seems a little extreme. And yet, this is what happened to Nicole Kidman during the filming of Moulin Rouge. The actress fractured her ribs when she was trying to squeeze into a corset. And that's reason number one why women don't wear corsets anymore.

No actor has ever done what Jackie Chan has done. This man is like a fly, jumping from one wall to the other like it's nothing. But this man is not immune to injuries. On the set of Armour of God II, he hit his head so bad that he had to have brain surgery. And yet, after all that, the man is still jumping.

11. George Clooney.

 

OMG, we almost lost George Clooney. No, really. The actor hit his head during the filming of Syriana. The actor let weeks pass by without consulting a doctor despite the fact that he was still feeling pain in his head. It was only when Clooney consulted a neurologist that he learned he was leaking spinal fluid.

12. Matthew Fox.

 

Tension and fights in Lost were all over the place. But one fight scene, between Terry O'Quinn and Matthew Fox, almost led to the latter's death. It seems that O'Quinn was set to stab Fox in the scene but the knife he grabbed wasn't a retractable one. Luckily, Fox had protective gear on, so when he got stabbed, he was safe.

13. Joseph Gorden-Levitt.

 

During the filming of Premium Rush, Joseph Gordon-Levitt got hit badly. The actor was filming a scene in the street, rushing through traffic on his bicycle. However, a taxi ignored one of the barricades set up for filming and the actor flew right into the taxi's back window opening up his arm pretty bad.

14. Kate Winslet.

 

Jack is the one to die in Titanic (Editor's note: If that's a spoiler for you, you seriously need to catch up on your pop culture), but Kate Winslet almost lost her life for real during the filming of this movie. For a particular scene, DiCaprio and Winslet were supposed to run through a corridor before the water filled up the space. However, Winslet got her jacket stuck on a gate and she almost drowned during that scene.

Charlize Theron is known for being intense in every role she plays. For Aeon Flux, the actress must have gotten too intense because she injured herself so badly, she almost permanently damaged her spinal cord. The injury was so bad, production of the movie was halted until the actress recovered.
