Manchester United have missed out on the signing of Sandro Tonali after the young Italian midfielder decided to join Serie A giants AC Milan on loan for this season.
Sandro Tonali supported AC Milan as a youngster and that has played a big part in his decision to join the Rossoneri.
The Italian international will wear the number eight jersey at Milan after his transfer was confirmed on Wednesday night.
Sandro Tonali leaves Brescia after six goals in 89 appearances over a period of three years. His style of play has been likened to that of Italian football legend Andrea Pirlo.
He has won three caps for the Italian national team under current manager Roberto Mancini.
Tonali played 36 times for Brescia last season and his performances attracted the interest of several European heavyweights like Barcelona and Manchester United.
Inter Milan and AS Roma were also keen on the player but the lure of AC Milan was too much for the player to resist.
Sandro Tonali has signed for the seven-time European Champions on loan for a fee of €10m with the option to sign permanently for a fee of €15m at the end of the loan. In total, Sandro Tonali might set Milan back to the tune of €35m.
