He went to school in Jiddah, married a young man, and joined the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood, like many Saudi men.

Omar was born into the grandson of Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden, the founder of one of Saudi Arabia 's richest non-royal families. He said he trained in the camps of Al Qaeda, a group created by his father, which began as a sign of terrorism at the age of 14.
After six years of training with Al Qaeda, he left Al Qaeda in 2000 and shared a house with his second-in-command, Ayman al Zawahiri, because he did not want to be associated with the killing of civilians and his father Osama did not object. It has been reported that Felix-Browne met bin Laden while she was undergoing treatment for multiple sclerosis. They met on a horseback ride at the Giza pyramids in Egypt. She is his second wife and 24 years older than he is, with five grandchildren. She was aware when she married Omar that he had been married and divorced, with a two-year-old son.
In July 2010, Felix-Browne told the media that bin Laden suffers from bipolar disorder and that he was in a Qatari mental institution after hearing voices. Felix-Browne told the media that when bin Laden returned to the UK, Felix-Browne told him she wanted a divorce. As of 2015, Omar and Zaina have been married for 9 years and are living in an undisclosed country. All previous talk of divorce was publicized under duress and threats to their lives and their families lives. He is now an independent contractor and a businessman, but he is undeniably good looking, unlike his father, Osama.
