The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has provoked the Federal Government to reveal to Nigerians why it wants to burn through cash on selecting laborers on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System, IPPIS, when the association's University Transparency and Accountability System, UTAS, can be utilized for a similar reason for nothing out of pocket.
The National President of ASUU, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, tossed the test on Sunday in a talk with Vanguard.
He asked why the administration would demand squandering scant public assets on a venture that would in the end neglect to meet desires.
"We are near actualising UTAS' honesty measure. We can't help thinking about why the administration is demanding IPPIS that can't meet desires as far as execution. Does it bode well for the administration to squander cash on IPPIS?
"For everybody recorded on the IPPIS stage, they pay some cash to the individuals who brought the stage. In any case, for UTAS, they don't have to pay a dime. They should disclose to Nigerians why in spite of the monetary difficulties in the nation, they are demanding something that would take cash from the public satchel when a few people have a superior elective that costs nothing. Unquestionably, something must not be right some place," he said.
On the case by the legislature that most college speakers have been selected IPPIS, Ogunyemi said it was false.
"From our examinations, not up to one fourth of our individuals are on the stage. The couple of ones on the stage are of three classifications. The first being those near retirement or those resigning who felt being selected would help secure their qualifications.
"The subsequent class is the recently selected staff who likewise felt they needed to make sure about their positions and the individuals who were persuaded into enlisting. The legislature just recorded names of our individuals on the stage without the biometric being finished by the recorded speakers and when the biometric isn't done, the posting adds up to nothing.
"On the off chance that they are as yet flaunting that they have our individuals on the IPPIS, what are they sending groups to colleges to list individuals on the IPPIS," he expressed.
On a week ago's gathering, ASUU had with the administration appointment, Ogunyemi said nothing was truly accomplished in light of the fact that is important for conversation were simply opened before the gathering finished.
He included that another gathering would happen during the week yet couldn't affirm the date yet.
ASUU has been protesting since late March this year over issues, for example, the revitalisation of the college framework, setting up of Visitation Panels to colleges, execution of a prior understanding came to with the administration among others before the IPPIS issue sprung up.
