If you are from a typical Nigeria home, you will agree that there are wall geckos almost everywhere. We can find Wall geckos in the walls of our various homes and other buildings. They rarely appear during the day. They appear at night in search of insect and some other pests ( mostly insects that crowd near lights). One can easily recognize them with the chirping sounds they make.

According to Wikipedia, small-sized geckos are non-venomous and not harmful. However, the bigger-sized ones bite when they are distressed. Their average lifespan is five years. However, this is not what we will discuss today. Our focus is on how they affect human lives negatively.

The mouth of a wall gecko is a home for many bacteria. Bacteria is responsible for the cause of many diseases in the world today. You don't have to kiss a wall gecko before you get infected by these bacteria. They may interact with some of our household utensils and material and pass these bacteria across. If we use these materials without washing them, we may get infected. These bacteria multiply very fast and can manifest in the form of rashes or other bacteria-related symptoms.

Again, wall geckos release wastes from time to time. These wastes are not entirely harmless. We are not free from germs and diseases if we use things that contain droplets of these wastes. We may introduce food alongside these wastes into our own body.

The Way Forward: We can reduce the outline effect above by keeping our homes clean all the time. We should rinse anything we eat with whenever we want to use them even when if we had washed them before.
