Anthony Joshua's Victory Justifies Ogun Investment In Sports - Governor Dapo Abiodun Congratulates Nigerian-Born Boxer

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has congratulated Nigerian-born boxer, Anthony Joshua, over his triumph against Kubrat Pulev Saturday night. 

The governore in a Facebook post on Sunday said Joshua's triumph is a defense for the express government's interest in games. 

Abiodun additionally said the fighter's triumph has carried pride to Ogun State where he hails from. 

He stated, "AJ's triumph gives us, Ogun State individuals boundless satisfaction, as the IBF, WBA and WBO champion held his place at his excursion against Kubrat Pulev yesterday. 

"Along these lines, this is to praise, for the great individuals of the Gateway State, our own personal Anthony Joshua on the world-commended triumph that has brought us pride and a defense for our interest in games and youth improvement." 

Joshua took out Bulgarian fighter, Kubrat Pulev, in the ninth round of their reality title session at the SSE Arena, Wembley, to hold his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles. 

The battle is Joshua's first since recovering his belts from Andy Ruiz in December 2019 in Saudi Arabia. 

Pulev has been unbeaten in his last eight battles since losing through knockout to Wladimir Klitschko in 2014. The 39-year-old won 28 of his past 29 with 14 via knockout. 

South African arbitrator Deon Dwarte halted the battle after the ninth round knockdown. 

Joshua's triumph sets up a potential all-British heavyweight unification session against Tyson Fury in 2021.
