Edo Panel Orders Arrest Of Nollywood Actress Lilian Afegbai's Mother Accused of Killing UNIBEN Student Over EndSARS

A Nollywood actress's mother is in a tough situation after Edo State Judicial Panel of Enquiry for survivors of SARS and related maltreatments provided a request for her capture. 

A request has been given to the police to capture a resigned Chief Superintended of Police (CSP), Carol Afegbai over her function in the passing of University of Benin (UNIBEN), Ibrahim Momodu, in 2015. 

Song is the mother of Nollywood entertainer, Lilian Afegbai. 

The request for her capture was given by the Edo State Judicial Panel of Enquiry for casualties of SARS and related maltreatments, on Tuesday after she neglected to show up before the board to clarify her supposed complicity in the homicide of the understudy. 

At the continued sitting of the board on Tuesday, an individual from the board, named A. B. Thomas said that Afegbai who was at the hour of the occurrence, the Divisional Police Officer of Ogida police headquarters, had no privilege not to have showed up before the board to clarify her parts in the killing in the event that she didn't have anything to stow away from the general population. 

Thomas presented that in the event that the court had not attempted her, at that point when the case was first initiated, it was on the grounds that she was excluded from the suit, adding that now her name was referenced in one of the petitions before the board, she is currently involved with the case. 

"That we requested her capture and that she should be brought to this court here. In the event that she was not captured in the High Court, on the off chance that she was not captured in the Court of Appeal, it is on the grounds that she was not a gathering it was state versus the one who pulled the trigger yet before us here, she is a part to the gathering and on the off chance that we simply proceed to close my Lord, it will appear she is exempt from the laws that apply to everyone else," Thomas noted. 

"Consequently, we call the Commissioner of Police to create Mrs Carol Afegba before this board," he argued. 

In her decision, director of the board, Justice Ada Ehigiamusoe (rtd), requested the quick capture of Carol Afegbai. 

"Prior, the board had brought the respondent to show up before this board in the present procedures and it is on record that she has neglected to do as such. It is of the view along these lines of this board that the respondent having neglected to show up before the said board, a warrant of capture should be given against her to show up before the said board," she requested. 

"In like manner, it is thusly requested that a warrant of capture be given forthwith on the said respondent who is named Carol Afegbai who will show up before this board following the request for this board on the ninth day of December 2020," she said. 

The late Ibrahim Momodu was a 500-level understudy of Faculty of Laboratory Science, the University of Benin at the time he was killed near his family house at No 1, Igbobaewaye Street, off Siluko street by Textile Mill intersection.
