A 300-level student of the Department of Agriculture, University of Ilorin, Gbenga Favor Olaoye-Akanbi, has ended it all after he was purportedly hoodwinked by a forex dealer, Eseka Chuckwutem Gospel (ESG).
The 19-year-old student was said to have contributed over N300 million having a place with his associates and friends in a business run by ESG.
Addressing SaharaReporters, a companion of the expired and a speculator with the firm clarified how they were tricked.
He stated, "The speculation is forex. The person's name is Eseka Chuckwutem Gospel. We began the venture together this year. It appears he quit exchanging, so he went by implication to a Ponzi conspire without the information on those contributing.
"He has a specific gathering. The vast majority in that gathering gathered cash from others to put resources into his business. The late Gbenga gathered cash from various individuals to contribute with ESG at a specific rate.
"Later on, the speculation smashed, and the person was captured. With the assistance of some senior police authorities, he was delivered. So after some time, individuals that were with ESG as financial specialists( they had acquired cash to contribute) were currently being pressurized to reimburse the advance they took. I am one of the speculators, as well; we were under a ton of strain to settle up. So I think in light of the fact that about this present person's age, he is only 19-year-old, he was unable to withstand the weight and ended it all."
A course mate of the perished said he guaranteed them that forex isn't a Ponzi conspire and that he had back up assets, sufficiently much to pay all of his speculators their capital and benefits regardless of whether things turned out badly.
"It's so miserable; I have over N5m venture manage him. He professed to be the one doing the exchanging at first, yet when the issue began around June, he began referencing one Eseka Chuckwutem Gospel as his chief. He disclosed to us they were captured together, however that our cash was protected with him.
He later vowed to pay everybody's capital before December. I was astounded when I saw individuals posting his photos with RIP today," he told SaharaReporters.
