Lagos State Govt. Set To Carry Out Free Vaccination For 1.5 Million Dogs Against Rabies

The Lagos State Government has disclosed that no fewer than 1.5 million dogs will be vaccinated within the next two weeks, during the free anti-rabies vaccination campaign embarked upon to prevent deaths of animals in the State.

The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms. Abisola Olusanya stated this these days at the flag-off of the vaccination campaign held at the palace of Oba Ayangburen of Ikorodu.

Earlier, the Chief Veterinary Officer of Nigeria, Dr. Olaniran Alabi, noted that an estimated 70,000 human beings globally die of rabies each 12 months, adding that less than 5 percent of dogs are vaccinated in Nigeria because of excessive value of the vaccines.
