The nation’s power grid suffered its first collapse this year on Wednesday, plunging parts of the country into a blackout.

Two of the electricity distribution companies in the country, Ikeja Electric Plc and Eko Electricity Distribution Company Plc, disclosed this in messages to their customers through their Twitter handles on Wednesday.

It stated, “This is to tell you that we skilled a machine collapse at thirteen:58hrs nowadays and this affected all customers at the IE community. However, we're pleased to verify that supply has been restored to Alimosho, Ogba, and Alausa transmission stations at 14:47hrs.

The grid, that is being managed by government-owned Transmission Company of Nigeria, has continued to suffer gadget collapse through the years amid a lack of spinning reserve that is supposed to stop such occurrences.
