This would be the first time the Dutch born manager would be coaching outside the Netherlands, with a brief stint at Bayern Munich B team the only time he has coached a team that isn't in the Netherlands. He spent the entirety of his playing career in the Netherlands, playing for various club sides in the country.
Eric Ten Haag would be replacing outgoing interim manager, Ralf Rangnick on a permanent basis, ending Manchester United search for a permanent manager, since after the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. While many would expect the manager to succeed and thrive at the club, the situation at Manchester United are quite dire at the moment, and would need a lot of spending and work, to ensure the team gets back to challenging for trophies next season.
Manchester United biggest problem this campaign, has been the inadequacy for the forward players to consistently score goals, even players like Bruno Fernandes who had a brilliant campaign last season has found his goal output and contribution hampered significantly this season.
While the task at Manchester United wouldn't be an easy one for Eric Ten Haag, but with certain additions to the team, he should be able to get the team back on track.
He would need to sign at least four players to help kickstart this change at the club, a striker, winger, midfielder, and a defender. Paul Pogba, Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic are all players who could leave at the end of the season, as their contract expires.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been Manchester United top scorer this season, but for a player that turns 38 depending on him to provide the goals at every given game might not be quite easy.
Lautaro Martinez, Antony, Frenkie de Jong and Alessandro Bastoni are all players that Eric Ten Haag could sign to help in various positions in the team.
It remains to be seen how, Manchester United plan to spend in the transfer window but they would need to sign to get the team in contention for the premier league title next season
