A Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, has been ordered by the Nigerian Police Force to report himself after a viral video.
Portable was shown in a viral video accusing a young man of sending a message to his 'wife,' asking her to tell him to stay away from his buddies since they had no glory, according to a source.
The ZaZu Zeh singer requested the young man to name his pals who he accused of lacking in splendor in the video.
The singer ordered his boys to beat the defenseless man without allowing him to say anything.
Portable was heard saying "e luu pa," which means "beat him to death," as they pounced on the victim in Yoruba.
In response, the Portable was instructed to report to the Ogun State Command, as the incidence occurred within the state.
While calling the behavior as unfit and inhumane, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the spokesperson for the Ogun State police, ordered the singer to surrender or face being proclaimed wanted.
"The Ogun State Police Command has been alerted to a video clip circulating on social media in which a prominent hip hop musician, Habeeb Okikiola (a.k.a Portable, the Zazu crooner), was seen arranging some youths to beat up a young man and inflict bodily injury on him. The incident is said to have occurred roughly two days ago somewhere in Ogun State.
"Such disorderly and violent behavior is not only savage, but also unfitting of someone who is supposed to be a role model for young people, and should not be tolerated."
"In light of this, the Command is using this means to advise Okikiola Habeeb, a.k.a Portable, to report to the nearest police station in Ogun State, failing which his arrest would be ordered," the statement reads.
"Portable's brazen display of impunity in the viral video is abhorrent, and if left unchecked, it will convey the wrong message to the adolescents who look up to him as a role model."
"Jungle justice has no place in our laws," Oyeyemi said in a statement on Monday. "Whoever engaged in it must be forced to experience the full force of the law, regardless of their status."
