Cairo Ojougbo no longer member of our party – Delta APC

The Delta State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has insisted that Cairo Ojougbo has been expelled from the party.

This decision was made due to his alleged violation of the party’s constitution, as well as his involvement in legal action against the party and the establishment of an unauthorised parallel executive with the intent to destabilise the APC.

The expulsion was further ratified in a letter from the national leadership of the party.

The Delta State APC Publicity Secretary, Mr Valentine Onojeghuo, confirmed this during a press conference held in Ebrumede community, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

Onojeghuo emphasised that Ojougbo’s actions were in direct contravention of Article 21.5(V) of the party’s constitution, which warrants expulsion as a punishment for such offenses.

According to Onojeghuo, Ojougbo not only filed legal action against the party but also formed an illegal parallel executive committee, which purportedly expelled key figures such as Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the Deputy President of the Senate and the gubernatorial candidate of the APC in Delta State.

Onojeghuo highlighted that Article 21.2(Vi) of the Party’s Constitution explicitly forbids the establishment of parallel structures or organs within the party, warranting disciplinary action.

He said, “Article 21.2(Vi) of the party’s constitution explicitly prohibits the establishment of a parallel structure or any organ of the party and such an offence necessitates disciplinary action.”

Furthermore, Onojeghuo pointed out that Dr. Ojougbo’s anti-party activities were evident in video clips circulating in the media, where he can be seen mocking and celebrating the party’s inability to win the gubernatorial election in Delta State. Such behavior clearly violates party principles and values.

“In addition, there are video clips of Ojougbo circulating in the media space, wherein he could be seen to be lampooning and celebrating the inability of the party and its candidate to win the gubernatorial election in Delta State, which is glaringly anti-party activity.”

During the press conference, Onojeghuo was joined by the Delta State Secretary of the APC, Surv. Peter Akarogbe, Comrade Mudiaga Okorefe and Ejigbamu Johnson Okoro.

They collectively asserted that Ojougbo’s actions were responsible for the party’s failure in the recently concluded governorship election in the state.

Onojeghuo further refuted the claim made by Ojougbo that Omo-Agege worked against President Ahmed Bola Tinubu during the election campaigns, describing it as untrue and unfounded.
