The historic appointment of Hon (Engr), Doris Uboh as the Executive Director, Rural Electrification Fund (REF) has not come to us as a surprise but as testimony and the attestation of the myriad accomplishments the Engineer/Politician has been able to swiftly put on record.

As a thoroughbred Nigerian, a social innovator, a people-person, excellence-driven and community-oriented, it is needless to say that the criteria set for her appointment as the Executive Director, REF, has not only been met by her but surpassed them and become the "Best Among Equals"

She has shown an avowed zeal and determination to make strategic initiatives and plans in Engineering and Legislative Matters of human endeavors for the sole aim of putting lka nation, Delta state and Nigeria as a whole on the right part of growth and development.

In the realm of Nigerian leadership and economic development, Hon Doris Uboh stands out as a beacon of inspiration, breaking barriers and etching her name in the annals of history especially when she is known to be passionate about positively impacting lives and demonstrating her strong belief in Nigeria.

To show how dogged, loyal and battle ready to dislodge the Delta led Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), in the 2019 election, Hon. Engr. Doris Uboh was the only APC woman candidate in the south south zone. In 2023 election, she stepped down for a sitting senator and contested as a Rep member to represent Ika federal constituency.

Again this Amazon emerged as the only APC female candidate in the entire South-South region in the 2023 general election.

Apart from possessing significant experience in Engineering, her professional trajectory showcases her versatility and impact. She never falls short when it comes to representing the interest of APC irrespective of how rough the road might be.

She possesses records, is known to uphold the highest standards of transparency and accountability in the discharge of her duties, determination to elevate the yearnings of Nigerians for good governance and qualitative service delivery above the narrow interests of individuals entrusted to provide critical services to the Nigerian people, in line with the 'Prosperity Agenda' of Mr President.

In consideration of the above achievements and accomplishments enumerated out of many too numerous to mention, President Bola Tinubu, among some qualified Nigerians, appointed her to serve in the new management team of REA in an acting capacity with immediate effect, which is a right choice and well deserved.

Hon Doris O. Uboh, born on the 16th of June, 1964, is an indigene of Ekuku-Agbor, Ika south LGA of Delta state

She spent her childhood years between Lagos and Ekuku-Agbor in Delta states, where she attended Corona School, Lagos state and Ekuku-Agbor Grammar School, Delta State for her primary and secondary education, respectively.

She ventured abroad for further studies, where she obtained her first degree in Electrical Engineering from the New York Institute of Technology, Old Westbury, Long lsland and had her Masters Degree in International Finance from Suffolk University, Boston, Massachusetts.

Doris Uboh upon completion of her education, has been involved with the Electricity and Power Sectors across the globe, where she was at different times between 1995 – 2007/2011 – Present Managing Director of DAGASTEEL INTERNATIONAL LTD.

She was also Executive Director (Technical) at DANIEL POWER LIMITED between 2011 – 2018 and was a Technical Consultant to LAGA CE POWER LIMITED between 2018 till Present.

In 2007, Doris Uboh contested and won the House of Representatives election for Ika Federal Constituency, where between 2007 and 2011, she made an impact not just on her immediate constituency but the entire federation.

At the House of Representatives, she sponsored the Minimum Wage bill which was harmonised with an Executive Bill and assented to by then President Goodluck E. Jonathan, GCFR, increasing the National Minimum Wage from #7,500 to #18,000.

She also sponsored the amendment of the Petroleum Pipeline Vandalization Bill and co-sponsored the Petroleum Industry Bill and Child Rights Bill.

Between 2007 and 2011, She was the Chairman House Committee on Petroleum Product and Marketing Company, as well as, a member of the House Committees on Petroleum Downstream, Public Procurement, Police and Marine Transport.

She is an active politician with a lion's heart, as she has gone against the Delta State PDP establishment on several occasions, and fought repeatedly as the only woman standing. In the 2019 general elections, Hon Engr Doris Uboh was the only female candidate of the APC in the South-South Geopolitical Zone.

Again in the 2023 general elections, this amazon, personality with beauty and brains, emerged as the only female candidate of the APC in the South-South Geopolitical Zone, underscoring her loyalty to the party, her doggedness and battle-ready disposition to fight the PDP in Delta state.

In 2019, she was the Delta North Senatorial Candidate of the Party, and most recently, she was the 2023 APC Candidate for Ika Federal Constituency. She has never fallen short of representing the interests of the party towards steady progressive ends.

Hon Doris Uboh is a member of many professional, sociocultural and religious organisations, including the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), Council For the Registration of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), National Women Society and Ika Women Society.

As a Christian, she worships at St James Anglican Church, Asokoro, Abuja.
