In a candid assessment of his tenure, Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has emphasised the ongoing project of transforming the team.
Speaking after his side’s FA Cup final 2-1 win over Manchester City on Saturday, Ten Hag insisted that the Red Devils were a mess when he arrived at Old Trafford a few years ago.
The Dutchman, however, expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress while acknowledging that there is still work to be done.
“I prepare my team and develop it. It’s a project,” Ten Hag stated at his post-match interview.
He added:
“When I arrived, I can say that it was a mess.
“Today, we’re better. We’re not where we want to be yet.”
Ten Hag could likely leave Man United after the FA Cup final as his future at the club is uncertain at the moment.
