The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Hafiz Inuwa, Thursday explained how police foiled prison break in the facility of the Nigerian Correctional Services, NCS in Warri, Delta State.
CP Inuwa disclosed this while on a telephone chat with DAILY POST in Warri, Delta State.
He said his men were the first among other sister security agencies to arrive the prisons pointing when rainstorm wrecked havoc on the facility.
According to CP Inuwa,
”They (our men) were the first to be there and God help us, there was no escape.”
It would be recalled that a heavy storm wrecked havoc on the facility four days ago.
In the process, the storm blew off the prisons roof as well as fell its left perimeter fence.
But the Comptroller of the Nigerian Correctional Services in Delta, Comptroller Ovie Friday told DAILY POST that there was actually a wind storm which damaged the roof and its fence.
He, however, denied that some inmates escaped in the process.
Comptroller Ovie who was at the prison himself said,”There was a heavy rain and there was heavy storm which blew off our roof and our fence. But I can tell you, none of our personnel and the inmates sustained injuries. Also, no inmate escaped. We were lucky that soldiers, the police, the DSS and other sister security agents came early to give us back up. Nobody escaped.”
