When it comes to entertainment listicles, DJs aren't often in the limelight but today we would be taking an indepth look at some of the people who give us joy on the dance floor.
The role of a Disk Jockey can not be overemphasised and lately DJs are getting more recognised for their art and are getting the deserved accolades.
Here are some of the top Nigerian DJs who are popular today but were born into very wealthy homes but decided to follow their passion for the turn table and turn it into a profession.
1. DJ Cuppy
DJ Cuppy whose real name is Florence Otedola is one of Nigeria's top female DJs in the game today and she's come a long way to make a name for herself in the entertainment industry. She is the daughter of Nigerian Billionaire, Femi Otedola.
At 17 the adorable Cuppy was on her way to fame and more fortune when she started playing at some of London’s top nightclubs, events and various London Fashion Week fixtures. It all began with playing the Piano after and then beat making, thereafter Deejaying.
Now, she's become a force to reckon with in the industry and she's set to drop her first musical project sometime later this year.
2. DJ Xclusive
Signed to Banky W’s EME record label, Rotimi Alakija, better known as DJ Xclusive, is a Nigerian DJ and the nephew of world’s richest black woman, Folorusho Alakija.
DJ Xclusive was born in the UK to Nigerian parents and moved back to Nigeria when he was younger to pursue a high school education at King's College, Lagos. Rotimi Alakija moved back to the UK to study Physics and Computer Science at Reading University, where he earned a bachelor's degree. He later studied Financial Computing at Brunel University London.
3. DJ Caise
Popularly known as the multi-award winning Chocolate City Official jockey, Caise has performed across Africa and has been seen at various major shows including the MTV Africa Music Awards 2010, the SoundCity Music Video Awards 2010, Music Meets Runway 2011, Hennessy Artistry Club Tour 2011, MTV Africa All Stars Lagos and Durban, S.A 2013 and much more.
He was born into a very wealthy home.
4. DJ Big N
Nonso Temisan Ajufo better known by his stage name, DJ BIG N, is Mavin’s Official Deejay. Born and raised to a wealthy family, after moving back from the United Kingdom where he went to further his studies.
He obtained an MBA degree from Coventry university in England. He also holds a Bsc degree in Psychology from the University of Lagos. He was also born into a wealthy home.
5. DJ Mufasa
DJ Mufasa whose real name is Ibukuun Okeowo is the son of Lagos Billionaire, Olu Okeowo.
DJ Mufasa who schooled in the UK decided to follow his passion and become a jockey despite objections initially from his parents.
He is also a Chemical Engineer and the CEO of Gibet, an online betting platform.
