They rule the Nigerian music industry in the early 2000s with scintillating vibes that left music lovers, especially female fans dreaming of love.
Undoubtedly, they remain one of the biggest revaluations in the entertainment industry in Nigeria and Africa.
They go by the stage name STYL Plus. The trio of Shifi Emoefe, Tunde Akinsanmi and Zeal Onyecheme, members of Styl-Plus, were the delight of every music lover in Nigeria and beyond.
Based in Abuja, the group used its strong vocals and addictive soundtracks to successfully blend together English and Indigenous languages, on their Pop and R & B tracks.
The single, ‘Olufunmi’ was one of the biggest hits in the Nigerian entertainment scene when it was released in 2003. The song was so captivating that it held listeners spell-bound and asking for more.
Infact, between 2004 and 2005, the singles, ‘Olufunmi’ and ‘Runaway’ stood out among the most requested love songs on all the major radio stations in Nigeria.
‘Imagine That’, the lead track on their debut album, “Expression” was also a massive chart topper, and was used in numerous shows, including the first edition of Big Brother Nigeria.
Other songs in their albums like, "Call My Name", "Stay Alive", “Iyabasira”, "Four Years", "Unbreakable", "Ready to Go", "On the Dance Floor" etc, were equally massive hit songs that catapulted the group, Styl-Plus to the top of the entertainment ladder in Nigeria.
They became favourites in shows and won several awards in Nigeria and Africa. They were the crush of many ladies, who sought for the opportunity of seeing them performing live on stage.
Then, all of a sudden, Styl-Plus went underground, to the surprise and dismay of their fans who were expecting more from them.
In an industry that witnesses frequent entrance by up coming artists gunning for the top, it was not difficult for our beloved artistes (Styl-Plus) to be forgotten.
However, all of a sudden, like from nowhere, Styl-Plus re-emerge with a single titled “Aso Ibora”, released on February 13, 2017. This time without one of their members, Tunde, who had gone solo. Since then, much has not been heard about them.
Notwithstanding, it is believed in some quarters that the group Styl-Plus still remains the best R n B musical group in the history of Nigeria music industries.
