No doubt, every man is born to taste death. No matter how long it takes, every man will, one day, leave this earth to beyond. As humans, we always pray to live long. However, death respects no one. The unseen force does not care if you're loved by people or you're the hottest in town. In Nigeria, it's so sad that some promising musicians died while they were still making waves and loved by all and sundry. They died at their prime and left their fans in sorrowful hearts. Let's take a look at some of them:
1. Goldie: The news of Harvey Bimpe Susan, popularly known as Goldie's death was probably the saddest to have hit the media on Valentine's Day in 2013. The young and rising talent, who left her job as a TV show host to pursue her music career was only 31 when she passed away. Before she passed on to glory, Goldie was in her apartment when she complained of a headache before she was rushed to LUTH. After some time, she gave up to the ghost and bid the world farewell without a sense of foreboding. When an autopsy was carried out on her, it was revealed that the talented artiste died of heart-related complications. She released her debut album in 2010 and three years later, Goldie had died. While alive, she was a renowned philanthropist such that she willed all her assets in cash to a charity organization.
2. Gbenga Adeboye: Better known as a comedian, Gbenga Adeboye was one of the few Nigerian Musicians that died in their prime. He took his music on an international trip to America in 1995 and that was a boom! While he was in America, he sang a beautiful song titled Exposure, a mix of Afro and pop style infused with danceable beats. Gbenga was a philanthropist, a comedian, and creator of Oduology. In one of his songs titled "Iya" (Mother), he analyzed the role of mothers and dedicated the song to his mother, who died about 11 years after the maestro's death. Gbenga died on April 30, 2003.
3. Da grin: One of the best rappers who died without any better replacement is Da grin. He was a great rapper who shook the length and breadth of the country with his unbeatable talent. His death was irreparable, sorrowful, and came without a sense of foreboding. Olaonipekun Oladapo Olaitan, popularly known as Da grin was able to stand out in the Yoruba rap category as a result of the fact that he lived in a ghetto. One night, after he had gone clubbing with friends, Da grin had an accident on his way home which claimed his life instantly. He had so many tracks to his name, amongst which was Democracy; a track wherein he lambasted the Nigerian government for the low quality of service delivery to the citizens.
4. Sunny T: Fuji music is a genre of music usually and normally sang in the Yoruba Language. Surprisingly, Sunny T took the bold step and make history. He was an Ibo boy who dared to venture into the 'strange' genre of music. He was great at what he did. He was the first Ibo to ever sing Fuji in Nigeria. The news of his death came and shocked everyone on July 1, 2012
