Arsenal legend Perry Groves laments lack of leaders in current Gunners side after ‘really poor’ defeat to Brighton

Arteta's £72m weapon: How Pepe can restore Arsenal's fear factor ...

Perry Groves bemoaned the lack of leaders in the current Arsenal team after their second defeat in a week.
Neal Maupay struck a dramatic injury-time winner as relegation-threatened Brighton boosted their Premier League survival hopes by completing a first league double over the Gunners.
Maupay, who scored the winner at the Emirates Stadium in December, calmly lifted the ball over substitute goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez deep into added time to repeat the 2-1 scoreline and secure Albion’s maiden success of 2020.
Nicolas Pepe’s superb second-half strike had put the visitors on course for a much-needed victory in their pursuit of European qualification but Seagulls captain Lewis Dunk quickly scrambled an equaliser.
A miserable day in the south-coast sunshine for Mikel Arteta’s men was compounded by a serious-looking knee injury suffered by first-choice keeper Bernd Leno.
But perhaps the biggest problem was the ease in which Brighton managed to find a route back into the game, despite Arsenal’s star-studded attack.
Former Gunners winger Perry , who watched the game for talkSPORT, said on Matchday Live:“It was a goal of the highest quality from Brighton, a brilliant, brilliant finish from Neal Maupay.
“But they’ll be big questions asked about Arsenal now. They couldn’t hold onto a lead again and their game management was really, really poor.
“To be leading and to keep hold of that lead, you need leaders, and I don’t think there’s enough leaders in the Arsenal side.
“You need to have players screaming at each other to make sure you’re not left in 1v1 situations, like Cabellos was in the build-up to the equaliser.
“To be fair to Brighton, you have to say their winning goal was absolutely top quality and sometimes you just have to take you hats off.
“Arsenal had blocked shots before that, but the goal was just very clever play. Sometimes other teams just have that little bit of quality.”
