The 2020-21 Premier League season will begin on September 12 and conclude on May 23, the English top-flight announced on Friday.
Most clubs will have a seven-week break between the end of the 2019/20 season this weekend and the start of the new campaign.
However, Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United and Wolves could have just three weeks off if they were to progress to the finals of the Champions League or Europa League in August. The Champions League final will take place in Lisbon on August 23 with the Europa League final two days earlier in Cologne.

The English Premier League, arguably the world’s best football league is set to witness yet another tension soaked grand finale to a season. The 2019/2020 season began with a frenzy with eventual champions, Liverpool mounting a very strong challenge to wrestle the trophy from the firm grip of Pep Guardiola-led Manchester City.
From the first blast of the whistle, it was obvious to even the blind, the top two spots would be taken over by Liverpool and Manchester City, just as they did in 2018/19 season, while the last two spots for Champions League ticket would be battled for among the ‘usual’ suspects in Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal. As the season wore on, it became evident that these three clubs won’t fight alone for the 3rd and 4th position as Leicester City, Wolves, Tottenham, Sheffield United also joined the fray to secure the remaining Champions League spots.
Breaking: Dogara dumps PDP
FORMER Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara has dumped the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
The Chairman of the APC Caretaker/Convention Planning Committee and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Malla Buni, disclosed this after the duo met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Although Dogara declined to speak after the meeting, Mai Buni told journalists that the former Speaker “is now a member of APC.”

A group, Ondo State Southern Senatorial Patriotic Movement, OSSSPM, has appealed to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede to pick the embattled Deputy Governor of the state, Hon. Agboola Ajayi as his running mate for the October 10, governorship polls. Ajayi, who decamped recently from the All Progressives Congress, APC came second during the PDP primaries with 657 votes.
In a statement signed by the group’s coordinator, Comrade Wale Edamisan also urged the national leaders of the party to rally round the Deputy Governor.
