I Cried When I Learnt That "Conjoined Twins" Pass Through These Painful Experience

Throughout the history of human existence there have been series of conditions that have been witnessed, and one of that conditions is “conjoined twins”. Conjoined twins are referred to as two babies born physically connected to each other. It develops when an early embryo only partially separates to form two individuals. In some cases, the conjoined twins might have different head, brain and other vital organs but share one circulatory system. In that case it is quite difficult to separate them.

You remember Doctor Ben Carson right? Yes, he is the one that performed the first successful separation of a conjoined twins after series of failed attempts from different surgeons, that single success made him so popular that he is widely regarded as the best neurosurgeon in the world. Since that time there have been a series of successful separations of siamese twins. But in most cases the separated twins dies off shortly after surgery or live the whole of their lives without complete body development.

Now, I bring this wonderful question; what happens to the other twin when one of the conjoined twins dies? Will the other one die immediately? The answer to the question involves a lot of considerations, and that is why you should read carefully. Relax, take your time and read through.

The answer to the questions depend exactly on how the babies were joined. For example, if they have separate heads, separate hands and legs BUT share the same circulatory system or any other important organs like heart, liver etc, then it is likely that if one of the conjoined twins dies, the other one will follow-suite almost immediately. However, if proper surgery is carried out as soon as possible, the circulatory system shall be focused on the twin that is still alive. In that scenario his/her might be saved.

Also the possibility of the other being saved depends on the type of conjoined twins presented. There are about 5 types of conjoined twins that is identified so far. Take a look at those types of conjoined twins below, and their possibility of survival.
1. Thoracophagus
In this condition the twins are joined together from chest to umbilicus. Once the heart is affected, the possibility of their survival is quite low.
2. Parapagus
In this case the conjoined twins have two separate heart, so, it is likely that they also have separate circulatory system. Their possibility of their survival is very high.
3. Cephalogus
Co joined at the head, but has separate face and brain. I’m this case, the possibility of the other one surviving is high. However the other might still die as a result of blood clotting or agglutination especially around the brain.
4. Pyopagus
Conjoined at the bottom of the body, specifically buttocks. There is high chances of survival in this scenario, just that working or moving freely might prove too difficult for the other as a result of the anomalies in the sacrum and coccyx.
5. Ischiopagus
Conjoined in the hip from umbilicus to the pelvis. If the genitourinary and gastrointestinal tracts are not involved, then the chances of survival is high.

From the explanations above, it is very clear that the chances of one of a conjoined twins surviving when the other dies depends solely on the kind of organs they share between them. It is very important that we always appreciate God for our lives. Seeing people that suffer greatly from natural anomalies, we should see a reason to appreciate God.
We should make sure that we always put all the conjoined twins all over the world in prayer. They are seriously passing a lot of pains and sufferings. I pray that God will give them the hope and joy they needed, so that they may live their lives the way others do.
