Before you continue reading this article, first of all, thank God that you are healthy and your child is healthy too that's if you have a child or Children because some people out there are struggling with serious challenge of Birth defects.
A birth defect is a problem that occurs basically when a child is in the womb which results mostly to children given birth to abnormally with very abnormal defects. Some come with missing body parts, some come with excess body parts, some come with Co joined body parts, others are Neural tube defects, such as spina bifida, and problems related to the growth and development of the brain and spinal cord and so on.
There are basically many birth defects, but one which is very abnormal is the mermaid syndrome (Sirenomelia)
Sirenomelia, which is also known as mermaid syndrome, is an extremely rare congenital developmental disorder characterized by anomalies of the lower spine and the lower limbs. Affected infants are born with partial or complete fusion of the leg.
Most babies born with the mermaid syndrome don't live long enough. Some live for just few minutes and they die off. This is usually because of problems associate to the breathing organs. However, there is a baby who survived even with fused legs.
