Workers to hold thank you rally for Zulum Sept 16
The Borno State civil servants disclose thei r reasons as follows:
Gov. Babagana Zulum is amongst first 3 Governors to adopt new minimum wage
Prof Zulum has been paying salaries on 26th of every month
Zulum has paid N5b to reduce pension arrears
The governor has paid pension to level 10 downwards who retired from 2016 to July 2020

Made it easy for ex-workers to cross into pension payments
After becoming better informed based on consultations with thousands of workers and pensioners, the Borno Civil Servants wish to inform Nigerians and the world at large, that contrary to our earlier position, Borno state government led by His Excellency Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has since taking over on May 29, 2019 been up to date on payment of civil servants using the new minimum wage.
The Governor approved the adoption of new minimum wage in January 2020, after a joint committee set up by him submitted recommendation
Many workers have been receiving their salaries latest 26 of every month and early payment of salaries is paid before all religious festivals such as sallah, ramadan, Christmas and Easter.
The group has also confirmed that Governor Zulum has released over N5b to pay more than 2,000 pensioners many of them who retired years ago, in order to reduce arrears of pension government had been owing workers.
In the light of above, the Borno State civil servants hereby change their position that insha’Allah, Borno workers will on September 16, 2020 hold a solidarity rally in recognition of Governor Zulum’s commitment to the welfare of workers and pensioners in Borno State.
