THE All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools has appealed to stakeholders to ensure prompt implementation of the incentives the Federal Government announced during the World Teachers’ Day celebration.
The National President of the Association, Mr Anselm Izuagie, who spoke in a chat with our correspondent, explained that the President, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), had three years to monitor the actualisation of the incentives.
Buhari had approved a special salary scale for teachers, 65 years as retirement age, 40 years as retirement by service and increased in science allowance, among others.
“Our appeal now is for all the relevant agencies; governors, SGF office, Salaries and Wages Commission, to expedite action to implement these policies of Mr President, as we need the relevant law to back it.
“They should remember that it is not about politics of civil service, but about the development and well being of Nigeria through deliberate policies to better the teaching profession,” he said.
