Universities Set To Re-open On 18 January 2021 - NUC Says

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has guided bad habit chancellors of colleges to continue scholarly exercises on January 18. 

This is as per the order of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19. 

The mandate was contained in an assertion endorsed by NUC's Deputy Executive Secretary (Administration), Chris Maiyaki, in the interest of the Executive Secretary, Professor Abubakar Rasheed. 

Maiyaki encouraged colleges to defend lives by carefully clinging to the surviving wellbeing conventions and the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) rules, which have been conveyed severally to the Nigerian University System through NUC's handouts. 

"I am to include that colleges resumption of scholastic exercises, must under no situation disregard the full pattern of the semester framework, steady with the Benchmark Minimum Academic Standards (BMAS) endorsed by the NUC, just as other surviving quality confirmation principles and rules," the assertion noted. 

Nigeria's state funded colleges have been shut since March 2020, after the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) set out on a strike. 

There was likewise a lockdown forced to contain the spread of COVID-19. 

ASUU suspended the strike on December 23, 2020, after the government fulfilled their needs, including paying the instructors their remarkable pay rates utilizing a more established installment stage, GIFMIS, not quite the same as the disputable IPPIS.
