French side Lille have reportedly received an offer of £75million for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, from an unnamed club.
Osimhen has been the subject of serious transfer speculation with reports linking him with a move to a host of European clubs with European Champions Liverpool thought to be leading the race for the young forward as reports claim that the Reds were eying up a £60million deal at the end of the season.
Osimhen has impressed scouts this season with his pace and finishing ability which was on show in the Champions League group stages.
French outlet Telefoot report that Lille have received an offer of £75m which includes bonuses from an unidentified club.
Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Inter Milan are the other clubs that have been linked with the Nigerian.
With Osimhen on a long term contract at Lille, the only reason he would be allowed to leave this summer is if the French club gets a fee that they want for the striker. This is according to transfer expert Duncan Castles.
Castles confirmed that Liverpool have made contact with Lille over the signing of the 21-year-old striker who has scored 18 goals in 38 games this season since moving to France from Belgian side RSC Charleroi in the summer.
"The information I have is that Liverpool have been in contact with Lille about their Nigeria centre-forward Victor Osimhen," Castles said on the Transfer Window podcast.
"He's attracting attention from a lot of clubs and has been fulfilling the potential he showed when he won the Golden Boot at the World Youth Cup a few years ago, scoring 10 goals in that particular tournament in Chile.
"They are open to selling him this summer but only if the market provides them with the right price.
"And they're very conscious that this may well not be the transfer window to sell a player of his talent. That will factor into their thinking.
"They believe they've got a player who is going to turn into one of the top centre-forwards in European football."
Castles added that the figure Lille want for Osimhen is around €80million (£69.5m) and are prepared to keep the player if that price is not met.
"He's a different kind of player to the type Liverpool have in attack and would allow them to expand their options," he added.
" As for Pricing, the figure I'm hearing from Lille is that they will not sell for less than 80m this summer, which gives you a sense of how good they expect the player to be.
"That's the same figure they took from Arsenal for Nicolas Pepe last summer.
"They're not prepared to be bid down heavily in this market simply because there isn't money being spent because of the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
"They'd rather hold onto him, they have him on a long-term contract, they don't feel pressure from the player himself to be allowed to move in this summer."
With a £75m bid tabled by an unknown team, would Lille cash in and sell? Only time would tell.
