The Professional Baseball Skills Camp, a two-day workshop, is scheduled for August 5-6 at the Sterlington Sports Complex.
The goal of the camp is to help players from ages 8-to-18 learn the professional way of hitting, fielding, pitching and baserunning.
Camp coaches include former LSU and Louisiana-Monroe head baseball coach Smoke Laval, former LSU assistants Rooster Southall, now a associate area scout for the Atlanta Braves, and Turtle Thomas, now a minor league catching instructor for the Texas Rangers, and Atlanta Braves associate area scout and Claiborne Christian head baseball coach Chad Olinde.
The camp is divided into two sessions — one for ages 8-to-14 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and one for ages 15-to-18 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Space is limited to 100 campers.
Camp cost is $125 per player. High school and travel ball coaches can attend for free. Players can register at www.roosterselitebaseball.com.
