When Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt stood behind the goal at Moor Lane in March 2014 and watched Salford City lose 2-0 at home to Curzon Ashton the first thought that flashed through their heads was: "What are we getting ourselves into here?"

On Wednesday will come a first competitive meeting with a Manchester United side, albeit the Under-21s in the EFL Trophy at the Peninsula Stadium, before a trip to Goodison Park to face Everton in the Carabao Cup second round, a first clash with a Premier League club.“
You probably dream about the days when you’re playing Everton at Goodison Park, playing at Wembley in play-off finals and playing Manchester United on a Wednesday night. When it comes along you don’t really stop to enjoy it, you just got along with the flow," Said Garry Neville
